Adventure Waterpark Desaru Coast is open in 2026, daily from 10am to 6pm except Tuesdays. It has more than 20 rides, slides and attractions, a water coaster called Kraken’s Revenge and one of the biggest wave pools in the world. Two things to know before you go: at time of writing the Surf Wall is closed until further notice, and the wave pool is open but running gentler waves than usual. This guide covers the rides by height, tickets, lockers, food rules and how to plan a smooth day from Singapore.

If you are still deciding what else to do on the coast, our list of things to do in Desaru Coast covers the nature tours, farms and golf. This post is only about the waterpark.

How the park is laid out

When the park opened, Tourism Malaysia described five themed zones: Penawar Falls, Penawar River, Shipwreck Reef, Tidal Wave Beach and Kids Ahoy. In practice you will move between three kinds of area.

  • The big rides. Kraken’s Revenge and the giant slides are where teenagers and adults spend most of their time. Queues build here first.
  • Tidal Wave Beach. The giant wave pool with a beach-style shoreline, sun loungers and rentable cabanas. This is the natural meeting point for families.
  • The gentle zones. The lazy river along the Penawar River area and the Kids Ahoy play zone, with its own small slides and water play equipment for younger children.

A park map is posted on the official website, and it is worth a look the night before so the kids can pick their first ride.

Rides by height: who can ride what

Height rules are checked at the ride entrance, so measure your children at home first. These are the requirements published by the park at time of writing:

RideMinimum heightOther rules
Kraken’s Revenge (water coaster)110 cmMax combined weight 617 kg per boat
Swinging Ship110 cm with a guardian130 cm and above may ride alone
The Tempest122 cmMax combined weight 320 kg per tube
Riptide122 cmMax combined weight 320 kg per tube
Wild Whirl122 cmSingle rider max 115 kg; two riders max 180 kg combined
Super Twister122 cmSingle rider max 115 kg; two riders max 180 kg combined
Surf Wall107 cmClosed until further notice at time of writing

For attractions not listed, the park asks visitors to check with staff on the day.

What that means for your family

  • Under 110 cm: the lazy river (with a life jacket), the shallow end of the wave pool and the Kids Ahoy play zone. That is still a full day for a preschooler.
  • 110 to 121 cm: add Kraken’s Revenge, which is the ride most children talk about afterwards, and the Swinging Ship with an adult beside them.
  • 122 cm and above: the whole park opens up, including The Tempest, Riptide, Wild Whirl and Super Twister.

Mixed-age families do best by splitting up for an hour: one adult takes the older children to the big slides while the other stays with the little ones in the kids’ zone, then everyone meets at the wave pool.

The wave pool and the Surf Wall right now

The wave pool is the park’s signature attraction and a big reason people make the trip. At time of writing the park says the pool remains open but with limited wave activity while its crew works to bring the full waves back, so expect calmer water than the photos suggest. For families with young children, that is not a bad thing.

The Surf Wall, a surf simulator, is listed as temporarily unavailable until further notice. If surfing is the main reason for your trip, check the notice on the park’s official website the day before you travel.

Tickets: what Singapore visitors should know

  • Book online. The park sells day tickets on its own booking site, and online prices are lower than walk-in prices.
  • MyKad rates are for Malaysians only. Singapore passport holders pay the non-MyKad rate, which is higher, so compare like with like when you see a price advertised.
  • Watch for promotions. At time of writing the park is running an October–November 2026 promotion that must be booked online at least three days before your visit; under it, non-MyKad online admission is listed at RM100.
  • Tickets are non-refundable. If the forecast looks grim, decide before you book rather than on the morning.
  • Annual pass. The park also sells an annual pass, worth a look only if you visit Desaru several times a year.

If you are staying at a Desaru Coast resort, ask the hotel whether any of its packages include waterpark entry before you buy tickets separately. Our guide to Desaru resorts for families compares the four resorts if you have not chosen one yet.

Lockers, cabanas, food and facilities

Lockers

Locker payment is by debit or credit card at the kiosk only, so do not rely on cash. At time of writing the full-day rates are RM30 for a small locker, RM55 for a large and RM70 for an extra-large. A family of four can usually share one large locker if you leave the bulky bags in the car or at the hotel.

Cabanas

Beachside Cabanas and Tidal Huts line the wave pool shoreline. They give you shade, lounge chairs and, in selected units, a safe deposit box, a chiller and fans. For families with a baby, a grandparent or anyone who burns easily, a cabana turns a long hot day into a comfortable one. They are limited, so book ahead for weekends and school holidays.

Food and drink

Outside food and drinks are not permitted. Inside the park you can eat at Kelong Eatery (local and international dishes), Octobites Cafe (café-style food and drinks) and Penawar Market Kiosk (snacks and light bites). Plan a proper meal before or after your visit if anyone in your group has dietary needs.

Changing rooms and safety

There are changing rooms and showers around the park, life jackets for non-swimmers and lifeguards at the water attractions. The park suggests guests with medical conditions check with a doctor before visiting.

A simple plan for the day

  1. 10am, opening time: head straight for Kraken’s Revenge or the slides your group most wants before the queues grow.
  2. Late morning: move to the wave pool and set up your base, especially if you have booked a cabana.
  3. Lunch at 11.30am or after 1.30pm: eat before or after the main lunch rush.
  4. Early afternoon: lazy river and kids’ zone while the sun is strongest; reapply sunscreen.
  5. Mid-afternoon: a second round on the big rides, which often have shorter queues later in the day.
  6. Before 6pm: shower and change into dry clothes for the ride home.

Practical tips

  • Avoid Tuesdays. The park is closed that day except where the holiday calendar says otherwise.
  • Pack: the park recommends swimwear, sunscreen and a change of clothes; we would add a hat, water shoes for hot paths and a waterproof phone pouch.
  • Bring your booking confirmation on your phone or printed.
  • Weather: afternoon storms are common, and outdoor rides can pause during lightning. November to February is the north-east monsoon on this coast, so a morning visit gives you the best odds.
  • Carry a card. Lockers are card-only, though some ringgit is handy for small purchases.
  • Weekends and Malaysian school holidays are the busiest days; a weekday visit means shorter queues.

Getting there and back without the fuss

The park sits inside Desaru Coast, about 2 to 2.5 hours door to door from most parts of Singapore on a normal day. The tricky part is the timing: you want to arrive near 10am opening and leave tired, wet and sandy at the end of the day, which is exactly when nobody wants to queue for a bus or drive home.

A Luxway SGMY private car makes the waterpark day simpler. The driver collects your family anywhere in Singapore, you stay in your seats through immigration at both checkpoints, and you are dropped right at the park entrance. For a same-day round trip, our hourly Day Trip Service keeps the car and driver with you, so wet bags and souvenirs can stay in the boot. If you are staying at a resort, book a one-way transfer each way instead. Fares are per car, with tolls, checkpoint fees, fuel and parking included, no deposit, and you pay the driver on arrival. Fares start from SGD 160 one way in a Toyota Innova. For a sample timetable for the rest of the day, see our Desaru day trip guide, and for how the drive itself works, our Singapore to Desaru private car guide.

Book your waterpark day

Check fares for every vehicle on our Singapore to Desaru private car page, read how booking works, then Whatsapp us your date, pick-up address, number of adults and children and whether you need child seats. We will reply with a written quote.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Adventure Waterpark Desaru Coast open every day?

No. At time of writing it opens 10am to 6pm every day except Tuesday, and operating days can change during public and school holidays. Check the official website before you travel.

Can my 5-year-old ride Kraken’s Revenge?

Only if they are at least 110 cm tall, which is the published minimum for the water coaster. Shorter children can enjoy the kids’ zone, the lazy river and the shallow end of the wave pool.

Can we bring our own snacks and water bottles?

The park does not allow outside food or drinks. There are three places to eat inside: Kelong Eatery, Octobites Cafe and Penawar Market Kiosk.

Do Singaporeans pay a different ticket price?

Yes. MyKad rates are for Malaysian citizens only, so Singapore passport holders pay the non-MyKad rate. Booking online is cheaper than buying at the gate.

Is the waterpark worth it if it rains?

Light rain is fine, as you are already wet, but rides can pause during lightning. Morning visits are usually drier, and tickets are non-refundable, so check the forecast before booking.
