Frequently Asked Questions

Planning a ride from Singapore into Johor or further up the Malaysian peninsula? This page gathers the questions passengers ask us most — about booking, fares, payment, immigration, luggage, children, changes and day trips — with straight answers in one place.

Can’t find your question? Message us on WhatsApp any time of day with your date, pick-up point and group size, and our team will reply with a written quote.

Booking & Payment

How do I book a private car with Luxway SGMY?

Send us your trip details on WhatsApp, or fill in the online booking form — it opens WhatsApp with your details ready to send. We reply with a quote, and once you agree, your booking is confirmed in the same chat. The full steps are on our How to Book page.

What details should I include in my booking message?

Your travel date and pick-up time, the full pick-up address in Singapore, your destination in Malaysia, the number of adults and children, how many big suitcases you have, and whether you need a one-way ride, a return trip or a day trip. Mention child seats or extra stops at the same time.

Do I have to pay a deposit?

No. There is zero deposit and nothing to pay online. You settle the fare with your driver on arrival.

How do I pay, and can I use a credit card?

Payment is in Singapore dollars, in cash, to your driver. Credit card payments are currently not accepted, so please have SGD cash ready for the fare and any waiting time or child seats you added.

How far ahead should I book?

Booking a few days ahead gives you the best choice of vehicles, especially for weekends, school holidays and public holidays. We run 24/7, so a same-day request is worth a try too — message us and we will tell you what is available.

Will I get a written confirmation?

Yes. Your confirmed date, time, pick-up address, destination, vehicle and fare are set out in writing in our WhatsApp chat, so you can check everything before the day.

Prices & What’s Included

Is the fare per person or per car?

Per car. The fare stays the same whether one person or a full group rides, as long as everyone fits the vehicle’s seats and luggage space. See our private car rates for every route.

What does the fare include?

Tolls, checkpoint fees, fuel and parking are all included, along with the driver and a door-to-door ride for your whole group.

What is not included?

Anything personal to your trip: attraction and theme-park tickets, meals, hotel stays and shopping. Waiting time beyond your booked plan and optional child seats are charged separately, and we always tell you those amounts in advance.

Is a late-night or early-morning ride more expensive?

We operate 24/7. Tell us your exact pick-up time when you ask for a quote — the fare we confirm in writing is the fare you pay.

Is a return trip cheaper than two one-way rides?

Return fares are listed for each route on our rates pages and are usually a little lower than two separate one-way fares. Give us both dates and times when you book.

Immigration & Documents

Do I need to get out of the car at the checkpoints?

No. You stay in the car through immigration at both the Singapore and Malaysia checkpoints. Each passenger hands over their own passport at the booth window and may be asked to look at the officer or the camera.

Which checkpoint will we use?

Either the Woodlands Causeway or the Tuas Second Link, depending on your pick-up point, destination and the traffic at the time. Your driver picks the crossing that makes most sense on the day.

How long should my passport be valid?

Malaysia generally expects a passport to be valid for at least six months from the date you enter. Check the expiry date of every passport in your group — including children’s — well before your trip.

What is the MDAC, and do I need one?

The Malaysia Digital Arrival Card (MDAC) is an online arrival form that most foreign visitors must submit before entering Malaysia. Some travellers are exempt — Malaysian citizens, for example. The rules change from time to time, so please check the official Malaysian Immigration website for your nationality before you travel.

Do I need a visa for Malaysia?

It depends on your nationality. Many passport holders can visit Malaysia visa-free for a short stay, but not all. Please confirm your entry requirements with the official Malaysian authorities before booking — we cannot advise on individual visa cases.

What happens if a passenger is refused entry?

Entry decisions are made by the immigration officers and are outside our control. If it happens, your driver will help you follow the officers’ instructions and contact our team about the next step. Checking every document before the day is the best way to avoid it.

Luggage & Vehicles

Which vehicle suits my group?

Up to 6 passengers with light luggage fit a Toyota Innova. For more comfort and more bags, the Toyota Alphard, Vellfire and Hyundai Staria have premium captain seats. Bigger groups take the Toyota Hiace (up to 9) or our Van 18-Seater (up to 13). Compare them on our MPV fleet and Hiace & van pages.

How much luggage fits in each car?

A Toyota Innova takes 1 big suitcase plus 3 hand-carry bags. The Alphard, Vellfire and Staria take 2 big suitcases plus 4 hand-carry bags. The Hiace and the 18-seater van are built for groups with luggage. If you have prams, golf bags or boxes, tell us so we can allocate the right vehicle.

Can I choose a specific car model?

Yes — you book by vehicle type, such as Innova, Alphard / Vellfire or Staria. The only exception is our Random Standard Car, a 5-seater sedan whose model varies, for up to 4 passengers on Johor routes only.

What if we bring more luggage than the car can hold?

For safety and comfort, luggage must fit inside the vehicle you booked. If your bags will not fit, we will suggest a larger vehicle — so please give us an honest bag count when you book.

Children & Special Needs

Do you provide child seats?

Yes, on request. Each child seat is a small top-up of SGD 10 (RM 35). Tell us the number of seats and your children’s ages when you book so we can prepare them.

Do babies and young children count as passengers?

Please include every child, including babies, in your passenger count. That way we assign a vehicle with enough seats for everyone to travel safely.

Can you take a passenger with a wheelchair or limited mobility?

A foldable wheelchair or walker can travel in the luggage space. Let us know in advance so we can choose a vehicle with room for it and allow a little extra time at pick-up.

Is the car comfortable for elderly passengers?

Staying seated through both checkpoints makes the crossing much easier for older travellers. On longer drives, the captain seats of the Alphard, Vellfire and Staria are the most comfortable choice, and you can ask your driver for a comfort stop along the way.

Changes, Cancellations & Waiting

How do I change my booking?

Message us in the same WhatsApp chat with the new details. Please let us know at least 24 hours before your travel date so we can rearrange the driver and vehicle.

How do I cancel?

Tell us in WhatsApp as early as possible, and at least 24 hours before your travel date. Because there is no deposit, there is nothing to refund — we simply release the car for another passenger.

Is there a charge for waiting?

On transfers, waiting time is SGD 40 per hour. Being ready at the pick-up point on time is the easiest way to avoid it. Day trips work differently — extra time is charged by the hour beyond your package.

Can we make stops on the way?

A quick comfort stop is usually no problem — just ask your driver. If you want a planned stop, such as a meal or a fruit farm, mention it when booking and we will confirm in writing whether any extra time applies.

What if traffic or the checkpoint queue makes us late?

Causeway and Second Link traffic can be heavy on Friday evenings, weekends and before public holidays. We plan around it, but delays caused by traffic, checkpoint queues or weather are outside our control, so leave a buffer for flights and fixed appointments.

Airport Transfers

Which airports do you serve?

We run cross-border transfers involving Singapore Changi Airport, Senai International Airport in Johor and KLIA / KLIA2 near Kuala Lumpur. Routes and fares are on our airport transfer rates page.

What should I send for an airport pick-up?

Your flight number, scheduled arrival time, the terminal if you know it, your group size and the number of suitcases. With that, we plan the pick-up around your arrival.

How early should I leave for a flight from Changi?

From Johor, allow for the checkpoint queue as well as the drive, and add extra time on weekends and holiday eves. Tell us your flight time and we will suggest a sensible pick-up time.

Does waiting time apply at the airport?

Airport runs are transfers, so the SGD 40 per hour waiting rate can apply if the wait goes beyond the plan we agreed. Keep us updated on WhatsApp if your flight is delayed.

Day Trips

How does the Day Trip Service work?

You hire a car and driver by the hour, with 8-, 10- and 12-hour packages. The driver stays with your group and follows your plan between stops. Details and package rates are on our Day Trip Service page.

When does the day-trip clock start and stop?

It runs from your first pick-up in Singapore until you are dropped back at your door. If you want to stay out longer on the day, tell your driver — extra hours are charged by the hour.

Where can we go on a day trip?

Popular choices include Johor Bahru for shopping and food, Legoland Malaysia, Desaru Coast, and Melaka’s old town on a longer package. You plan the stops; we handle the driving, tolls and parking.

Day trip or one-way transfer — which should I book?

If you are coming back the same day and want a car waiting between stops, a day trip is usually simpler. If you are staying overnight, book a one-way ride and a separate return pick-up instead. Our Singapore to Malaysia page lists the destinations we cover.

Still Have a Question?

Message us on WhatsApp with your date, pick-up address, destination and group size — we reply around the clock with a written quote. Zero deposit, pay your driver on arrival.
