Private Car from Singapore to Genting Highlands
Genting Highlands is Malaysia’s mountaintop resort city, about 1,800 metres above sea level, where the air stays cool all year and theme parks, a casino, malls and hotels share one ridge above the clouds. Getting there from Singapore is a long journey — up the North–South Expressway, around Kuala Lumpur, then a winding climb up the mountain. Luxway SGMY turns it into a single comfortable ride: we pick you up at home, you stay in the car through both checkpoints, and the driver takes you all the way up to your hotel lobby.
One all-inclusive price covers the car, tolls, checkpoint fees, fuel and parking. Book with zero deposit and pay the driver in cash at the end of the journey.

Things to Do in Genting Highlands
Resorts World Genting packs most of its attractions into a few linked buildings at the summit, so once you have checked in you can get around on foot — even when it rains.
Genting SkyWorlds Theme Park
A large outdoor theme park at the summit with roller coasters, movie-themed zones and gentler rides for younger children. Plan a full day and bring a light jacket for the evening.
SkyAvenue & Skytropolis
The summit mall is lined with shops and restaurants and houses Skytropolis, an indoor funland that keeps kids busy whatever the weather outside.
Casino de Genting
Malaysia’s only licensed casino, open to visitors aged 21 and over. Bring your passport, as ID is checked at the entrance.
Genting Highlands Premium Outlets
Designer and sports brands at outlet prices, located partway up the mountain. Your driver can stop here on the way up, or you can ride the cable car down later.
Awana SkyWay Cable Car
Glide over the rainforest canopy between the mid-hill station near the outlets and SkyAvenue at the top, with a stop at Chin Swee Caves Temple along the way.
Chin Swee Caves Temple
A Taoist temple built into the hillside, with a nine-storey pagoda, a large statue garden and sweeping views when the mist clears — a peaceful contrast to the summit’s bright lights.
The Mountain Road: Why a Premium MPV Helps
The last part of the journey climbs the mountain on a long series of bends. After four hours on the expressway, that final stretch is where comfort really counts. In a Toyota Alphard, Vellfire or Hyundai Staria each passenger has an individual captain seat with armrests and space to stretch out, which makes the twists much easier for grandparents, young children and anyone prone to car sickness.
A few tips for the climb: sit facing forward and look out at the road rather than at a phone, have a light snack rather than a heavy meal before the ascent, and pack motion-sickness medicine if anyone needs it. Mist and afternoon rain are common up here, and our drivers simply take it slower — allow a little extra time on wet days.
Travelling light with up to six people? The Toyota Innova handles the mountain road well at a lower fare. Larger groups heading up for a company retreat or family celebration can book the Toyota Hiace or 18-seater van. Child seats are available on request at SGD 10 each.
Route, Rest Stops and How Long to Stay
After crossing the border, your driver follows the North–South Expressway past Melaka and Seremban, skirts around Kuala Lumpur and joins the Karak Highway towards the mountains before turning off for the climb. Five hours or more is a long time to sit, so build in two breaks:
- Pagoh R&R or Ayer Keroh R&R — a good spot for a proper meal around the halfway point
- Seremban R&R — a stretch and coffee before the traffic around Kuala Lumpur
- Genting Sempah R&R — on the Karak Highway near the turn-off, the last stop before the climb
Timing: leave Singapore early in the morning and you will reach the summit by mid-afternoon, around check-in time. Weekends and Malaysian school or public holidays bring heavy traffic up the mountain and full hotels, so weekdays are noticeably more relaxed. Evenings at the top can feel chilly, so pack a light jacket or long sleeves.
Not a day trip. With ten or more hours of driving for the round trip, Genting is best enjoyed over two or three nights. Book a one-way transfer up and a return pick-up from your hotel. Many travellers also add a few days in the city — Genting is about an hour from Kuala Lumpur, and we run Genting–KL and Genting–KLIA transfers too. See Singapore to Kuala Lumpur or our full rates.

Frequently Asked Questions
How long does it take to get from Singapore to Genting Highlands by car?
About 5 to 5.5 hours on a normal day, including both checkpoints and the climb up the mountain. Holiday traffic or rain on the hill road can add time.
How much is a private car from Singapore to Genting?
From SGD 380 one way in a Toyota Innova, and that fare takes you all the way up the hill to your hotel lobby, not just to the foot of the mountain. If anyone in the group gets carsick, compare the captain-seat Alphard and Staria rows in the table above.
Will the car take us all the way up to our hotel?
Yes. We drive up the mountain and drop you at your hotel’s entrance at the summit or mid-hill, so there is no need to change to a bus or the cable car with your luggage.
Which vehicle is best for the winding road?
The Toyota Alphard, Vellfire and Hyundai Staria are the most comfortable, with captain seats and extra space. They are the popular choice for elderly passengers and anyone who gets car sick.
Can we stop at Genting Highlands Premium Outlets on the way up?
Yes. Let us know when booking. A short stop is fine; if you want a longer shopping session, waiting time is SGD 40 per hour, or ride the Awana SkyWay down to it from the summit later.
How cold is it at Genting Highlands?
It is much cooler than Singapore, especially at night and during rain. A light jacket or long-sleeved top is enough for most people.
Can you take us on to Kuala Lumpur or KLIA after Genting?
Yes. We run transfers from Genting Highlands to Kuala Lumpur and to KLIA. Send us your dates and flight time and we will arrange it.
Do we need to get out of the car at immigration?
No. Passports are checked at the booth while everyone stays seated, at Woodlands or Tuas and again on the Malaysian side. Keep them within reach afterwards too — ID is checked again at the casino entrance.
