Private Car from Singapore to Desaru
Desaru Coast sits on Johor’s south-east shore, where the South China Sea meets a long strip of sand home to four international resorts, a waterpark and two seaside golf courses. It is close enough for a long weekend yet far enough to feel like a proper holiday, and getting there by public transport means a bus to JB, another bus east and a taxi at the end.
A Luxway SGMY private car skips all of that. Your driver collects you anywhere in Singapore, keeps the whole group seated through both checkpoints and takes the expressway straight to your resort lobby, suitcases, beach toys and golf bags included. You pay one fare for the car, with no deposit.

Things to Do on the Desaru Coast
The resort strip is compact, but the farms, fishing villages and seafood towns around it are spread out — handy to know if you want the car for a few side trips.
Desaru Coast Adventure Waterpark
A wave pool, a lazy river, big slides for teenagers and a shallow splash zone for toddlers. Arriving at opening time is the easiest way to beat the queues for the big slides.
Four beachfront resorts
Mandarin Oriental, Anantara, The Westin and Hard Rock Hotel all face the same stretch of beach. Tell us which one you are staying at and we will drop you at its lobby, not a shared bus stop.
The Els Club Desaru Coast
Two 18-hole courses, the Ocean and the Valley, with fairways running along the sea. Golf groups usually need more boot space than they expect, so tell us how many bags you are bringing.
Desaru Fruit Farm
A guided walk through orchards of tropical fruit, with tasting at the end. It is on the way to the resorts, so it fits neatly into the drive in or out.
Seafood at Sungai Rengit
A small fishing town south of Desaru, known among Johor locals for its seafood restaurants. Worth the detour for a long lunch on the way home.
Quiet beaches and Tanjung Balau
Beyond the resort strip the coast is wide and quiet. Tanjung Balau, a short drive north, has a small fishermen’s museum and a calmer public beach.
The Drive: Route, Timing and Coming Home
Most Desaru trips cross at Woodlands, then head east past Pasir Gudang and over the Sungai Johor Bridge on the Senai–Desaru Expressway. The road beyond the border is quiet, so the checkpoint is the part that decides your total time.
Leaving on a Friday evening means sharing the Causeway with everyone else heading into Johor for the weekend. A Saturday departure before 8 am, or a Thursday-night start on a long weekend, is usually far smoother. Because we run 24/7, an early pick-up costs the same as any other time.
Sunday afternoon is the busiest time to come back into Singapore. If your resort allows a late check-out, a pick-up after dinner often gets you home sooner than one at 2 pm. Tell us your check-out time when you book the return and the driver will be waiting at the lobby.
Desaru Planning Tips
- The north-east monsoon, roughly November to February, brings rough seas — great for resort pools, less so for swimming in the sea
- Mid-year is the main durian season, when the fruit farm is at its busiest
- Pack swimwear and a change of clothes in a day bag, so you can reach them without opening the boot
- Visiting for the day? Our hourly Day Trip Service keeps one car with you from the waterpark to dinner

Which Vehicle for Desaru?
A couple or a family of four with one big suitcase is comfortable in the Toyota Innova. Resort weekends tend to mean more luggage, though: if you have two large cases, a pram or golf bags, the Alphard, Vellfire or Staria gives you captain seats and space for two big bags plus four hand-carry pieces.
Company retreats and big family groups can travel together in the Toyota Hiace or 18-seater van. Up to four passengers with light bags can save with the Random Standard Car, which runs to Desaru as it is within Johor.
Every Ride Includes
- Fixed, all-inclusive fare — tolls, fuel, and parking covered
- Zero deposit — pay your driver in cash on arrival
- Door-to-door service — no transfers, no bus terminals
- Stay in the vehicle through immigration at both crossings
- Professional, experienced cross-border drivers
- 24/7 availability

Frequently Asked Questions
How long is the drive from Singapore to Desaru?
About 2 to 2.5 hours door to door on a normal day. Friday evenings, Sunday afternoons and school-holiday weekends add time at the checkpoints rather than on the road.
What does a private car from Singapore to Desaru cost?
From SGD 160 one way in a Toyota Innova for the whole car, to any of the Desaru Coast resorts. Prices for the larger MPVs, the Hiace and the standard car are in the table above.
Which checkpoint do you use for Desaru?
Usually the Woodlands Causeway, as Desaru lies east of Johor Bahru. If Woodlands is badly jammed, your driver may switch to the Tuas Second Link and loop round on the expressways.
Can you pick us up from our Desaru resort for the return trip?
Yes. Book the return at the same time or later on WhatsApp, give us your check-out time, and your driver will meet you at the lobby.
Can we stop at Desaru Fruit Farm on the way?
Yes — mention it when booking. A short stop on a transfer is fine; waiting time beyond that is SGD 40 per hour, or you can book the hourly Day Trip Service instead.
Is Desaru worth it as a day trip?
It works for a waterpark or golf day if you leave Singapore early, but with around four to five hours on the road in total, most families prefer at least one night at a resort.
Can we visit Desaru during the monsoon season?
Yes. The resorts, pools, waterpark and golf stay open, but from about November to February the sea is often too rough for swimming, so plan around the pools rather than the beach.
