Short answer: every Changi terminal has its own arrival pick-up area, and they are not all on the same level. At Terminal 1 it is in Basement 1 (Doors 1 to 12), at Terminal 2 on Level 1 (Doors 2 to 7), at Terminal 3 in Basement 1 (Doors 1 to 5), and at Terminal 4 on Level 1, where Doors 1 to 3 are for private cars and Doors 4 to 8 are for ride-hailing. Drivers are not allowed to park or wait at the kerbside, so the person collecting you should only pull in once you are standing at the door, or wait in the car park instead.

This guide walks through each terminal, how to get from the baggage belt to the right door, how the car parks fit in, and how to time a smooth pick-up, whether it is family collecting you or a car taking you straight across the border to Johor.

Door numbers and routes come from Changi Airport's official pick-up page at time of writing. Signs inside the terminal are the final word, so follow them if anything has changed.

Terminal by terminal

Terminal 1

T1's pick-up area is one floor below the arrival hall. After you collect your bags, head down to Basement 1 and choose the Doors 1–6 side or the Doors 7–12 side; tell your driver which one so you meet at the same spot. Drivers approach along Airport Boulevard in the centre lane signed for Terminal 1 and Jewel, then take the down-ramp marked for Terminal 1 Arrival Pick-up. T1 is also the terminal directly connected to Jewel, which matters if your group wants a meal or a last look at the Rain Vortex before leaving.

Terminal 2

T2 reopened fully in November 2023 after its expansion works, and its pick-up area is on the same level as arrivals. Follow the "Arrival Pick-up" signs to Level 1, Doors 2 to 7. Drivers keep to the right lane of Airport Boulevard towards Terminal 2 and then follow the same signs.

Terminal 3

Like T1, T3's pick-up is in Basement 1. From the arrival hall, follow "Arrival Pick-up" and ride the escalator down to Doors 1 to 5. Drivers take the left two lanes of Airport Boulevard towards Terminal 3, then keep right for the Basement 1 pick-up.

Terminal 4

T4 sits apart from the other three terminals and has its own road system, reached from both the ECP and the PIE. It is the one terminal where private cars and ride-hailing cars use different doors: Doors 1 to 3 for private pick-up and Doors 4 to 8 for ride-hailing, all on Level 1. If someone you know is collecting you, go to Doors 1–3; if you booked a ride through an app, go to Doors 4–8. Drivers for private pick-ups use the outermost right lane once inside the T4 roadway and follow the "Arrival Pick-up" signs.

The no-waiting rule and the car parks

Changi does not let drivers park or wait for passengers at the departure or arrival kerbside, or at the pick-up points. The doors are for stopping briefly, loading and leaving. A driver who arrives early and circles, or who stops and waits, slows the whole lane down and goes against the airport rules.

The better option for anyone arriving early is the car park. Changi has public car parks at every terminal: the T1/Jewel car park, Car Parks 2A and 2B plus a Level 1 car park at T2, Car Parks 3A and 3B at T3, and Car Parks 4A and 4B at T4. At time of writing, Changi offers a 10-minute grace period for pick-up and drop-off at all its car parks, with normal parking charges after that. If a flight is delayed or immigration is slow, waiting in the car park is calmer than looping the terminal road.

Many professional drivers simply park, walk into the arrival hall and meet you there, then walk you to the car. It costs a little more time on their side but means nobody has to search for anyone at a busy door.

Jewel and moving between terminals

Jewel sits in the public area between the terminals. Its north entrance connects to the T1 arrival hall on Level 1, and it is roughly a 5 to 10 minute walk from T2 and T3 by link bridge. If your group splits up to explore Jewel after landing, agree to meet back at the T1 side, which keeps you close to the T1 pick-up doors.

Terminals 1, 2 and 3 are linked by the free Skytrain in both public and transit areas, and you can also walk between them on link bridges. Terminal 4 is not on the Skytrain; a free shuttle bus links it to the other terminals, and the ride in the public area takes about 10 minutes. Skytrain hours are reduced overnight, so check Changi's transport page if you land very late.

Timing your pick-up

The time between touchdown and reaching the kerb varies a lot. Taxiing to a far gate, a long walk, immigration queues and a slow baggage belt can each add time, and a family with several suitcases always takes longer than a solo traveller with hand luggage. A few habits make the hand-over easy.

  1. Share your flight number, not just the time. Whoever collects you can then track the real landing time, including early arrivals and delays.
  2. Message when you have your bags. That is the right moment for a driver to move from the car park to the door, not when the plane lands.
  3. Say the terminal and the door number. "T3, Basement 1, Door 4" is much easier to find than "outside arrivals".
  4. Get online quickly. Changi has free Wi-Fi; switch it on, or turn on your roaming data, as soon as you land so your driver can reach you.
  5. Heavy bags? At T1 and T3 the pick-up area is one floor below arrivals, so look for the lifts rather than wrestling suitcases onto an escalator.
  6. Families with car seats: mention it in advance so the right vehicle and seats are ready when you reach the door.

Going straight from Changi to Johor

Many travellers landing at Changi are not staying in Singapore at all: JB residents coming home, families heading to Legoland, or visitors starting a Malaysia trip. In that case the pick-up is only the first step, followed by Singapore exit at Woodlands or Tuas and Malaysian entry at BSI or KSAB. Keep passports handy rather than packed in the boot, and if anyone in the car is a foreign visitor, check whether they need the Malaysia Digital Arrival Card before you leave the airport; our MDAC guide explains who does.

If you are weighing up flying into Changi against flying into Senai for a Johor trip, our Senai vs Changi comparison looks at cost and time on both sides.

Letting a driver meet you inside

With a Luxway SGMY private car, you don't need to find a door or watch the clock. Send us your flight number, terminal and drop-off address; the driver follows your real landing time, confirms the meeting point on WhatsApp before you land, meets you in the arrival hall and walks you to the car. From there it is a direct, door-to-door drive into Johor Bahru or anywhere in Malaysia, and you stay seated in the car through immigration at both checkpoints. The fare is per car and covers tolls, checkpoint fees, fuel and parking, with zero deposit and payment to the driver on arrival. Changi to Johor Bahru starts from SGD 100 one way in a Toyota Innova, and we run 24/7 for late-night and early-morning landings.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can my driver wait for me at the Changi arrival kerbside?

No. Changi does not allow drivers to park or wait at the arrival or departure kerbside or at the pick-up points. Drivers should wait in the terminal car park and only come to the door once you are ready.

Is there free parking for pick-ups at Changi?

At time of writing, Changi gives a 10-minute grace period for pick-up and drop-off at all its car parks. Normal parking charges apply if the car stays longer than 10 minutes.

Where do Grab and other ride-hailing cars pick up at Terminal 4?

At Terminal 4, ride-hailing pick-up is at Doors 4 to 8 on Level 1. Doors 1 to 3 are for private pick-ups by friends, family or a booked private car.

Which pick-up point is closest to Jewel?

Jewel's north entrance connects to the Terminal 1 arrival hall, so the T1 pick-up area in Basement 1 is the most convenient. The T1/Jewel car park also serves both.

How do I get from Terminal 4 to the other terminals?

Terminal 4 is not on the Skytrain. A free shuttle bus links it to the other terminals, taking about 10 minutes in the public area. Terminals 1, 2 and 3 are connected by the free Skytrain and by walkways.
